He has been around for some time and have built a unknown amount of choppers. Mostly to other people. His style is familiar to anyone laid eyes on his skilled work and many of them awarded for the fine craftsmanship. I only know Tony Barth briefly, but I have a great story told by friends.
“It was time for Elmia custom bike show. Everyone turned up the day before with vans and trailers, unloading their beautiful creations, excited of whats to come. Settled in, making the last touch ups to be ready for the admiring crowd the next day Tony Barths spot at the show was still empty.
On the same morning the show opened, about 30 minutes before, Tony and a friend was rolling in at the parking lot. Dirty after some bad weather, cold and rainy, maybe even some snow during the almost 300 km long trip. Of course he was riding his bike to the show as well as his friend on another of Tonys masterpieces.
And no the bikes didnt get any touch ups, Tony and his friends just parked them on the spots at the show and went for a coffe or maybe a beer, who knows. Still dirty from the road, still with packing, one of the bikes got awarded as best chopper, cause underneath the road dust anyone could recognize the good craftsmanship the user abilitys and the typical style of a swedish chopper signed Tony Barth. Spiced up with a long road trip, as its supposed to be.”
If its true or not we cant confirm, but I dont have any doubt, cause thats not the only story I’ve heard about this one-man-chopper-factory-dude. But his heritage is not to an end. From now on the bike bulding part is sold to Mac cycles – Mac Bjädefors who has been working along and learning from Tony for some years. They are both members of the same club and Mac are also one of few representatives for SFRO – the organisation working with pre inspection before registration of a new bike builds in Sweden. We belive its the perfect deal to keep Tony Barths skills and craftsmanship alive for coming generations of chopper heads.
